1. Continue to seek evidence of the cause of our cyanobacteria blooms, especially as reported by Subtidal. Knowing the cause will inform a solution. Volunteer to conduct pond testing to supplement Subtidal data.
2. Continue to educate and encourage area homeowners to take steps to reduce the flow of excess nutrients and harmful chemicals into Long Pond.
3. Continue to research new and emerging solutions such as barley straw, mechanical removal of cyanobacteria via barge, biochar and hydrogen peroxide - based algaecides, and mechanical oxidation devices. In addition, monitor the success of more established solutions such as alum treatments.
