An invasive species:  Purple Loosestrife

Purple Loosestrife is growing on Long Pond's shoreline.

This problematic plant species tends to spread and choke out native plants
which provide a higher quality source of nutrition for wildlife.

Barnstable Conservation and the MA Dept. of Conservation and Recreation recommend the pulling
and careful disposal of this plant.   A community training and work event to eradicate
Purple Loosestrife from Long Pond will be held in spring 2021.
