A free home site assessment
Friends of Long Pond Marstons Mills is offering a property site assessment, free of charge, by Richard Moore, P.E., President of Moore Engineering (www.moore.engineering). Mr. Moore has over 40 years of experience in environmental engineering, specifically related to wastewater (septic systems), drainage, landscaping and site assessments. He is available to meet with home owners, walk their property and discuss these issues as they relate to improving water quality in the Pond.
If a site visit results in a recommendation for follow-up work that the homeowner can’t do on his/her own, Rick can provide a memo to be used to hire a local consultant/contractor. Rick has recently retired and is not selling his services.
To schedule a visit, please call or e-mail Amy Mesirow (508-737-5832 or amym@longpondmm.org.) Priority will be given to homes abutting Long Pond.
Lawn aeration discount
Aerating your lawn reduces or eliminates the need for fertilizer. Aeration allows air, water and nutrients to penetrate the grass roots, helping them to grow more deeply and produce a stronger, more vigorous lawn. Sam Amara, a Long Pond neighbor and owner of Promised Landscaping, LLC, is offering residents near Long Pond a 10% discount on lawn aeration services. He is a Massachusetts Certified Landscape Professional, fully licensed and insured, and has been in business for 12 years serving mid-Cape residents. More information can be found at Promised Landscaping's Facebook page. Sam may be reached at (508) 815-9281.
Septic pumping discount
In our effort to improve the health of our ponds, we have joined forces with the Indian Ponds Association to negotiate a discount on septic tank pumping services with Debarros Septic Services, located on Flint St. in Marstons Mills. You are eligible for this discount If you live within the following area which impacts our ponds: South border by Wakeby between Long Pond Rd. and Santuit Newtown Rd., East border from Santuit Newtown Rd. to Asa Meigs Rd., North border from Asa Meigs Rd to Meiggs Backus Rd. to Long Pond Rd., and West border from Long Pond Rd. to Lake Shore Dr. to Doves Ln. to Mockingbird Ln. to Long Pond Rd. to Wakeby.
The discounted rate is $210 for a 1,000 gallon septic tank and $310 for a 1,500 gallon tank. To take advantage of this discount, call Debarros at (508) 428-1087 and tell them that you would like the Friends of Long Pond Marstons Mills discount. When they come out to pump, Debarros will evaluate how often your tank should be pumped, based on the number of people who live in your house and what % of the year it’s occupied. They will send you a reminder the next time a pumping is due. If you would like to continue to receive the discounted rate, you will need to schedule your appointment at that time.
